Mexico’s National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) has assigned Pemex a total of 15 onshore areas to run exploration and production activities, as the state-run company tries to incorporate new reserves.

In a meeting on Tuesday, the CNH gave Pemex the green light to increase its portfolio with the new blocks, which are estimated to hold prospective resources of more than 1.1 billion barrels.
