Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras has resumed exploration drilling in the Espirito Santo basin in an attempt to unlock hydrocarbons after a pair of unsuccessful wells in the play in recent years.

Petrobras spudded the Andura wildcat in Block ES-M-596 on 20 June, using the Ocyan drillship ODN II.

The programme in 2117 metres of water is expected to last two months and reach a final depth of approximately 4430 metres.
