Oslo-listed Polarcus is seeking fresh employment for its seismic vessel Polarcus Selma after Sovcomflot exercised an option to redeliver the unit.
The Russian shipping company had earlier this year decided to redeliver the vessel, which was renamed Vyacheslav Tikhonov, but subsequently extended its bareboat charter by two years after a subsidiary of Polarcus decided to hire the unit for a wide-azimuth survey programme in the Americas, due to be completed in the fourth quarter.
However, Sovcomflot had a further option to redeliver the vessel on completion of the latter survey next month under the so-called “charter-back” arrangement and has now decided to exercise it, Polarcus said in a statement.
“The company is discussing a number of potential projects with customers and will explore opportunities for the vessel after redelivery,” it stated.
Meanwhile, Polarcus has secured industry pre-funding for a planned multi-client seismic survey in Australia due to kick off in the fourth quarter and with an estimated duration of two months.
