Thailand’s national upstream company PTTEP is gearing up for a key wildcat offshore Sarawak, East Malaysia.

The operator is set to soon spud the Paprika-1 exploration well, which is being eyed as a potential tie-back to its under-development Lang Lebah giant gas field.

The Lang Lebah filed holds estimated reserves of some 5 trillion cubic feet of gas and is located on the same SK 410B production sharing contract as the Paprika-1 well.

The Paprika probe will be drilled by Velesto Energy’s jack-up Naga 5 (Dragon 5) in replacement of the originally lined up jack-up Naga 4 — also owned by Malaysian drilling contractor Velesto.
