Repsol is considering a floating production, storage and offloading unit-style development for its recently revealed pair of deep-water discoveries off Mexico.

The Spanish major has been coy on whether or not the Polok and Chinwol finds, revealed last week, are deemed commercial.

Chief executive Josu Jon Imaz signaled to investors in a recent earnings call that the company is keen to ultimately move the finds into production despite the short-term headwinds of the Covid-19 pandemic and depressed oil demand.

Tomas Zapata, director of exploration, Americas assets, acknowledged to Upstream that any such project remains in the very early days of planning, but did float some initial ideas on possible concepts.
