Russian local gas producer Yatek has stepped up its liquefied natural gas ambitions with a massive increase in its acreage holding, after winning exploration and development licences for three large unexplored oil and gas blocks in the country's Yakutia region.

Based in the regional capital of Yakutsk, Yatuk said the Severny, Yuzhny and Maysky blocks together cover about 43500 square kilometres, increasing the amount of acreage under its control in the region by 23 times.
