Australian operator Santos has resumed drilling a closely watched exploration well near its Dorado oilfield, off the coast of Western Australia.

Joint venture partner Carnarvon Energy confirmed on Friday that drilling at the Pavo-1 exploration well, in the WA-438-P exploration permit, had resumed following a halt to operations due to cyclone activity.

Carnarvon revealed on 28 February that the jack-up drilling rig Noble Tom Prosser was being prepared for down-manning due to potential cyclone activity, but revealed the operations were set to resume.
