The most eagerly awaited well drilled in the UK North Sea this year will almost certainly be Shell's high-pressure, high-temperature Edinburgh prospect, which extends into Norwegian waters.

Located in Block 30/14b at the south-east end of the prolific Josephine Ridge area in the Central Graben, it is considered one of the North Sea’s biggest undrilled prospects.

The jack-up Valaris 122 has been contracted to drill Edinburgh and work could begin this quarter once Shell completes its Jaws exploration well.
