TotalEnergies has paid $24.3 million to Maersk Drilling to keep one of the contractor's drillships operating offshore Suriname until about the end of this year.

In January 2021, Maersk signed a contract worth about $100 million to deploy the Valiant and the drillship Maersk Developer in Suriname, starting in March that year, as it pushed ahead with a multi-well exploration and appraisal programme.

The French supermajor has exercised an option for the Maersk Valiant to drill an additional well in Block 58, with the contract extension having an estimated duration of 100 days.
