Russian oil major Tatneft has resumed a 3D seismic data gathering campaign onshore Libya that was suspended five years ago due to unrest.

According to state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC), Tatneft restarted a seismic survey in Block 4/82 on 6 December.

The Russian operator contracted Tripoli-based Arab Geophysical Exploration Services Company to carry out the work in the Ghadames basin.

When suspended in 2014, the survey operation aimed to cover an area of 200 square kilometres.

Arab Gepphsical completed a 3D survey for Arabian Gulf Oil Company in Libya earlier this year.
