French supermajor Total has confirmed it will focus on development plans for its commercial Brulpadda and Luiperd gas and condensate discoveries offshore South Africa instead of carrying out further exploration drilling work on other nearby prospects.

Total is currently in talks with the South African government over how best to exploit the resources held in these two fields in Block 11B/12B, with the most likely scenario seeing gas used as feedstock for the state’s gas-to liquids plant in Mossel Bay on the south coast.
