Turkey has unveiled a major new gas discovery in the Black Sea that, along with an upgrade of resources in the nearby Sakarya complex, has boosted gas reserves in this deep-water play to more than 25 trillion cubic feet.
The Caycuma-1 probe discovered 58 billion cubic metres, or 2 Tcf, of gas resources, according to Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan.
At the same time as announcing this fresh find last week — three weeks after the exploration well was completed — Erdogan also revealed that resources at Sakarya have increased by more than 20% to 652 Bcm, or 23 Tcf.
