Turkey’s state oil company is drilling ahead on an exploration well in the Black Sea as it hunts for more gas to add to the major resources held in its Sakarya project.

This drilling operation began at about the same time that the company completed a wildcat in the Mediterranean Sea.

Turkish Petroleum has three drillships deployed in the Black Sea which are used mainly for development drilling at Sarkaya, a deepwater field that will be exploited as a long-distance subsea tieback to an onshore gas processing plant at Filyos.
