Vaar Energi has unveiled what it said is a "significant" oil and gas discovery across two wells in the Balder area in the southern part of Norway's North Sea.

Preliminary estimates put the find — made between the King and Prince exploration wells — at up to 135 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The pair of discoveries are considered to be commercial and a tie-back development is already being considered.
