Vaar Energi has made a discovery at the Rodhette exploration well off Norway but the jury remains out on the commerciality of the find, partner Longboat Energy said on Monday.

Longboat, which holds a 20% interest in the discovery located about 30 kilometres north of the Goliat field, said Vaar has estimated the gross size of Rodhette at between 9 million and 12 million barrels of oil equivalent of recoverable resources.

The 7122/6-3 S well — Longboat's first ever probe — was drilled by the semi-submersible drilling rig Scarabeo 8 in the Hammerfest basin.
