Australia’s Woodside Energy could be the next big oil and gas player to set foot in Namibia’s Orange basin, the hottest offshore exploration play in the world at the moment, with its eyes on a potential multibillion-barrel resource.
Shell and TotalEnergies found big volumes of hydrocarbons with their Graff, La Rona and Venus discoveries in Namibia’s part of the basin last year, which subsequently prompted Chevron to take a stake in nearby acreage.
Upstream also recently broke the news that Shell hit oil with its Jonker-1 probe close to Graff, while TotalEnergies is about to embark on a massive exploration and appraisal campaign around Venus.
