Brazil’s Petrobras looks set to award contracts worth around $4.6 billion for the contracting of a pair of large floating production, storage and offloading vessels for the domestic Buzios pre-salt field, after concluding negotiations with two Asian shipyards.

Petrobras received a total of three commercial bids in early February for the P-78 and P-79 FPSOs — the seventh and eighth units to be deployed in Buzios — and has since been in talks with the top two contenders to try to secure a price reduction.
