Russian gas producing venture Achimgaz has commissioned the last of 108 development wells at the Urengoy gas field in West Siberia, enabling the company to achieve a long awaited annual plateau production target of 10 billion cubic metres of gas (approximately 162,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day) in 2020, according to a statement from Germany’s Wintershall Dea.

Achimgaz, a 50:50 venture between Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and Wintershall, started pilot gas production from deep high-pressured Achimov formations at the Urengoy field in 2008 and moved into full-scale commercial development phase in 2011.
