Abu Dhabi is bucking the trend. As most leading global oil producers continue to tread cautiously in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and the growing focus on renewables, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) is pushing ahead with plans to scale up oil production capacity to 5 million barrels per day by 2030.

It is also going against the grain with the United Arab Emirates' commitment to continue cutting oil production in line with the Opec+ output curbs designed to sustain crude prices.
