A US $1.3 billion floating production unit intended for BP’s Mad Dog 2 project in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico has made its way to Texas after a trip that lasted more than two months.

The Argos, which was referred to by BP as the “centerpiece” of the Mad Dog 2 programme, travelled about 16,000 miles from Samsung Heavy Industries’ production facility in South Korea to the Kiewit Offshore Services fabrication yard in Ingleside, Texas.
