The base-case development concept to exploit Total’s hydrocarbon-rich Paddavissie play fairway off South Africa — which was opened up this year by the major Brulpadda discovery — is set to involve subsea wells tied back to a fixed platform.
An informed source said the partners in Block 11B/12B are considering subsea wells in deep-water feeding hydrocarbons to a fixed processing platform on the continental shelf.
From there, gas would likely be piped to markets in South Africa while condensates — and potentially oil — are set to be exported to a floating storage unit and offloaded to shuttle tankers.
