Norway's Equinor may still be pressing ahead with the challenging Rosebank development in the UK's West of Shetland region, but industry observers are raising questions about the project's future after protests against the nearby Cambo development helped persuade Shell to walk away, forcing operator Siccar Point Energy to put the whole project on hold.

Siccar Point said last week it was pausing Cambo to “evaluate next steps” in the wake of partner Shell’s announcement, one week earlier, that it no longer saw the scheme as a viable investment.
