Equinor has hired fellow Norwegian company Aker Solutions for work on both the onshore plant and offshore subsea system for its Northern Lights carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Norway.

Aker confirmed on Thursday that it has been awarded the contracts to deliver the new onshore carbon dioxide-receiving facilities for the project — to be situated near the west coast city of Bergen — as well as the subsea equipment for injecting CO2 into a reservoir for permanent storage.
