Norwegian giant Equinor has decided on a cylindrical hull as the base case for the Wisting project in the Barents Sea, one of the largest and most keenly awaited developments off Norway.
The state-controlled operator on Tuesday awarded concept studies for the 450 million barrel oil project, with the base case now a cylindrical hull of the Sevan SSP design.
In addition to Sevan SSP’s study award, Upstream has learned that Aker Solutions has won a concept study contract for the topsides and integration and Aibel was awarded a study for the fabrication method for the modules to be tailor made for the Sevan SSP cylindrical hull.
