UK subsea services outfit Express Engineering has opened the doors of its new £3.5 million ($4.9 million) international assembly and test centre in northern England.

The 48,000-square-foot purpose-built facility at Team Valley in Gateshead is part of the company's expansion plans to target key global oil and gas markets.

Express currently serves the subsea energy market in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Africa and Australasia, working with industry contracting giants such as TechnipFMC, Baker Hughes and Aker Solutions.

Chairman Chris Thompson said: “We have a healthy order book for 2021 and anticipate significant market sector growth in the next three years.

"The new centre positions us strongly for further expansion and success," he added.
