Eni is looking to fast-track the development of its Cronos deep-water giant gas find in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone, with two exploitation options said to be on the table for the 2.5 trillion cubic foot discovery.

Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce & Industry, Natasa Pilides, told Upstream on the sidelines of the Gastech 2022 conference that floating liquefied natural gas “is one option, or the gas could go to Egypt”.

And she told delegates at the event: “We have very positive messages from Eni and Total [TotalEnergies is the Italian operator’s sole partner] about their intentions.
