Chinese offshore contractor Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) has started fabrication of offshore facilities for the Marjan incremental project offshore Saudi Arabia following a lengthy delay.
The first steel cut on Tuesday will ensure the completion of an eight-leg tie-in platform with modules weighing 20,000 metric tonnes to be completed for delivery in the first quarter of 2024, two years behind the initial schedule.
The work being carried out at COOEC’s yard in Qingdao city is extremely challenging featuring a heavy workscope and complex interfaces with pipes as large as 48-inches diameter, the company said.
