Russian state-controlled gas giant Gazprom and Germany’s Wintershall Dea have started commercial production of natural gas and condensate from deep Achimov layers at the Urengoy field in West Siberia.

The Achim Development joint venture began production this month, slightly behind the initial schedule, according to a Gazprom prospectus issued to brief potential investors about its upcoming Eurobond placement.
