Australia-based Karoon Energy expects in the next few days to drill the first of two wells in the Patola light oil accumulation inside the Bauna field, in the Santos basin offshore Brazil.

Karoon recently completed the intervention campaign at Bauna, increasing output at three wells that are connected to the Cidade de Itajai floating production, storage and offloading vessel.

“Production in Bauna is going really well. Production was hovering at about 12,600 barrels per day of oil in the middle of the year and we have now reached output of 22,000 bpd, far more than we were expecting,” Karoon chief executive Julian Fowles told an audience at the Rio Oil & Gas 2022 conference.
