Malaysia’s national upstream company Petronas Carigali is expected in February to issue a letter of intent for the mobile offshore production unit that will serve the next phase of its Bayan gas field development off Sarawak, East Malaysia.

Local contractor T7 has teamed up with VME of the US and is understood to be frontrunner for a contract that has attracted other bidders including locals Landas Offshore — with Petronas’ subsidiary EPOMS — and Malaysia's Handal Energy.

Petronas Carigali is in the market for a leased MOPU with processing capacity of around 100 million cubic feet per day of gas.
