A raging fire has engulfed operations at Nigerian independent Guarantee Petroleum’s Ororo marginal field on shallow-water development licence OML 95 off the West African country.

The blaze, which shows no sign of abating, broke out on hydraulic workover rig Grace-1 HWU located at the field off Opuama in Ondo State.

A senior corporate source said there is a continuous gas leakage from the Ororo-1 well that is constantly igniting the fire.

“Mercifully, no lives have been lost but partners are looking for help to put out this fire,” the source said.
