Only one contractor submitted a commercial offer in a Petrobras tender for the supply of the subsea solution to serve the fourth floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be installed in the Mero pre-salt field in Brazil’s Santos basin.

Two industry sources told Upstream that Italian player Saipem was the sole bidder in the competition to provide the Brazilian oil giant with subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines for the Mero-4 project.

Financial terms are being kept under wraps, but one source suggested the price proposed came slightly above $1 billion, in part due to market conditions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
