Contractors will have plenty of work to chase for Malaysian oil and gas greenfield, brownfield and decommissioning projects through 2024 despite the myriad of continuing challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic that has now entered its third year.

Platforms, floaters and subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) contracts will be up for grabs as will engineering, installation and hook-up and commissioning work.

As many as 31 new platforms will be required over the next three years for projects offshore Malaysia, according to the high case forecast by national oil company Petronas, including one ‘medium’ wellhead platform that was deferred from 2021.
