ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips of the US, TotalEnergies of France and UK-headquartered Shell have been selected by Qatar to take part in the expansion of the North Field, the world's largest liquefied natural gas project, according to people familiar with the matter.

The North Field expansion will boost Qatar's LNG output by 64% by 2027, strengthening its position as the world's top LNG exporter and help to guarantee long term supply of gas to Europe, news agencies Reuters and Bloomberg reported.
