Shell has given the floater market a New Year boost by moving into development mode on Linnorm — a gas and condensate resource discovered in Norwegian waters about 15 years ago.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor has already engaged Norwegian contractor Aker Solutions to carry out a conceptual study, project sources told Upstream.
One said the study is detailed enough to bear a close resemblance to a full-blown front-end engineering and design study based on the Sevan 400 design for a cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
