Equinor has selected an assembly site for wind turbines to be installed under its planned Hywind Tampen project to power a pair of fields off Norway.

Gulen Industrial Harbour, located in Sogn & Fjordane county on the country’s west coast, has been awarded the assembly contract, though the start of work is subject to a final investment decision on the ground-breaking scheme.

The state-controlled operator aims to cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 200,000 tonnes per year by using wind to generate electricity for five platforms at at its Snorre and Gullfaks fields.
