Total has acknowledged that work on the politically important $3 billion redevelopment of the Tyra gas field off Denmark is facing "challenges" from the Covid-19 pandemic — including the effective closure of one of the yards building the platforms — but the project remains on schedule for start-up in 2022.

Total E&P Denmark has site teams working on Tyra in five countries — Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Spain and Italy.

Total confirmed to Upstream on Tuesday that the facilities of Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms' (Sembmarine) in Singapore, where one major work package — covering a number of riser and wellhead platforms — is being built, was closed.
