UK-based Bayphase has won a preliminary front-end engineering and design contract for work on the technically challenging Cluster 3 ultra-deepwater gas project in eastern India’s Krishna Godavari basin.
Two people with direct knowledge of the development told Upstream that Bayphase has been chosen by state-controlled Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) following a competitive tender.
Cluster 3 remained in the projects pipeline for several years as ONGC took a cautious stance on development costs and the challenges around monetising some of India’s deepest offshore gas finds.
