Wintershall Dea has gained consent from the authorities for start-up of its Dvalin gas field development in the Norwegian Sea, marking a milestone for the formerly delayed project.

The German operator aims to launch production from the field — which is being developed as a subsea tie-back to the Equinor-operated Heidrun platform — in November or December this year after securing the key approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
