Aker Solutions and Kvaerner each boosted profits in the third quarter despite a fall in revenue as they bolstered their order backlogs, with the merger of the pair of Aker-owned contractors set to be consummated shortly.

Quarterly net income of Nkr199 million ($21.6 million) for Aker Solutions was more than double that of Nkr93 million a year earlier, although the figure was inflated by financial gains of Nkr804 million from the spin-off of its carbon capture and offshore wind businesses that offset restructuring charges of Nkr114 million.
