Yasir al Rumayyan, chairman of Saudi state oil behemoth Saudi Aramco, is set to join the board of Indian private sector player Reliance Industries,.

The move comes ahead of the likely formalising later this year of an earlier agreed $15 billion oil-to-chemicals deal between the two companies.

Billionaire Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said on Thursday that Rumayyan will join the board as an independent director, adding that the company is looking “forward to welcoming Saudi Aramco as a strategic partner,” in its oil-to-chemicals business.
