Norway’s BW Energy has confirmed it is in talks with Brazilian oil giant Petrobras regarding a potential acquisition of the Golfinho field in the Espirito Santo basin.

Petrobras in January 2020 announced plans to divest a quartet of deep-water fields plus a promising exploration block in Brazil’s Espirito Santo basin as part of an initiative to sell non-core assets and focus upstream work in the pre-salt province.

The planned sale was split into two clusters, one featuring the Golfinho and Canapu fields, as well as a 65% operating stake in Block BM-ES-23, while the other comprises the Camarupim and Camarupim Norte fields.
