Japanese operator Inpex has hit South Korean contractor Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) with a US$971 million compensation claim relating to the allegedly delayed delivery and defects in commissioning of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its Ichthys field offshore Australia.

DSME said in a regulatory filing that it had submitted a request for arbitration to the International Chamber of Commerce, after Inpex demanded compensation for delays and and alleged manufacturing defects related to the Ichthys Venturer FPSO.
