The private sector will handle the “heavy lifting” of deploying capital and investing in projects to help scale-up energy transition technologies and infrastructure, delegates at the Upstream & Recharge Energy Transition Forum 2023 heard on Tuesday in London.
Discussing the role of public and private actors in pushing the energy transition along, Paul Ekins, professor of resources and environmental policy at University College London Institute for Sustainable Resources, said that the bulk of the capital will have to come from private players.
