Workforce woes affecting South Korean shipyard giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering are not impairing its offshore and engineering projects, according to a company spokesperson.

Daewoo’s subcontracted staff have been on strike for over a month, creating conflict with the shipyard’s regular unionised full-time employees, the Korea Times reported.

The government tried to intervene last week when the subcontractors reportedly occupied a ship in one of the dry docks at Daewoo’s yard in Okpo on Geoje Island.
