Major Southeast Asian national oil companies have a pivotal role in maintaining industry activity this year and ensuring that the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic does not have a heavy impact on mid to long-term oil and gas supplies.

Norwegian consultancy Rystad Energy believes that, while Malaysia's Petronas, Thailand's PTTEP, Pertamina of Indonesia and PetroVietnam immediately reacted “somewhat similarly” to other oil and gas companies globally in cutting capital expenditure, the leading regional players will strive to maintain future output levels.
