The waters have become slightly muddied in Australia as major companies carry out plans to divest their mature oil and gas producing assets.

Chevron, ExxonMobil, BHP and Eni have stated their intent to sell major assets, but only Shell has had success, selling a 26.25% stake in the Queensland Curtis liquefied natural gas infrastructure to US investment fund Global Infrastructure Partners for US$2.5 billion.
