Environmental, social and corporate governance issues have become critical for the oil and gas industry, and in Guyana, flaring is high on the list of priorities.

Since ExxonMobil began output in the country over two years ago, it has been dealing with flaring issues on the Liza Destiny floating production, storage and offloading vessel due to a faulty flash gas compression system.

The equipment, manufactured by Germany’s MAN Energy Solutions, remains a headache for ExxonMobil and Dutch floater specialist SBM Offshore, which operates the Liza Destiny FPSO.
