Shell is in no rush to sanction the contracting of its maiden floating production, storage and offloading vessel to produce from pre-salt horizons in Brazilian waters, as the Anglo-Dutch supermajor studies offers for the Gato do Mato development.

Shell earlier this year welcomed a pair of proposals in a tender calling for the charter of the Gato do Mato FPSO, with Japanese floater specialist Modec and a consortium made up of Norway’s BW Offshore and Italy’s Saipem entering the fray.
