Survey reveals scale of cyber attacks in US

SOME two-thirds of oil and gas companies in the US have likely been compromised in a cyber attack in the last year, and those who say they have not been targeted might not know they have.

Those are the findings from a recently published survey of 377 individuals working in upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.

The survey, conducted by the Ponemon Institute on behalf of Siemens, found that 68% of respondents believe their organisations experienced at least one cyber compromise within the past 12 months that resulted in the loss of confidential information or an operations disruption.
